It is a private space of creation, where the founder works in close collaboration with artists, perfumers, and craftspeople to bring each vision to life. Nothing leaves the Atelier by accident. Every formula, every texture, every note is considered with the same devotion one might give to a work of art.

The distinction matters. Production is concerned with output — with units and timelines and market windows. Craft is concerned with something else entirely: with the integrity of the object, with the experience of the person who will eventually hold it, wear it, return to it years later and find it unchanged. At Lazarus Douvos, we are only interested in the second kind of making.

Every fragrance in the collection begins not with a brief, but with a feeling — a place, a memory, a moment that resists easy description and demands to be rendered in scent. The perfumers we work with understand that they are not filling a bottle. They are capturing something that, once lost, cannot be reconstructed from scratch.
The fragrances of Lazarus Douvos are built to last — not just on the skin, but in the mind. WE MET IN ROMA was conceived from the particular quality of late-afternoon light in Trastevere. The ROSE 1845 collection carries within it a devotion to the classical French perfumery tradition, to the aldehydic florals of the 1940s, to a time when fragrance was understood as one of the highest forms of personal expression.
The hair and body collection was built on the same premise: that a shower can be a ritual, that a morning routine deserves the same consideration as an evening at the finest table. Every product in the range is formulated to work in harmony with the fragrances — to layer, to extend, to deepen the experience of wearing a Lazarus Douvos scent.
How We Work
Slowly. That is the honest answer.
We do not release products until they are ready — truly ready, in the way that a wine is ready, or a piece of furniture made by hand is ready: when it could not be improved by more time, only changed. We have abandoned formulas that took months to develop because they were not yet right. We have reworked packaging because something in the proportion was not quite what it needed to be.
This is not perfectionism for its own sake. It is an acknowledgement that the person who eventually holds the finished object deserves the full weight of that attention.
The Journey
What exists today is a beginning. The Atelier is in constant motion — new collaborations forming, new fragrances taking shape, new expressions of the Lazarus Douvos world being considered, tested, and refined.
